Why does the eLogger only capture the coordinates for the end of the trip?
Except for the very first time that you use the eLogger the end coordinates of you previous trip will always be the start coordinates of the next trip.
Is there a way to include my car's odometer reading?
Yes, when you install the eLogger software you will be promped to provide the kilometer reading for the vehicle.
Can the unit be connected directly to the vehicle power source?
Yes, but this type of installation must be done by qualified radio or auto electrical technicians. The connection must be throught the vehicles ignition and fused. Connections directly to the vehicle battery source can cause damage to the e-logger and drain vehicle battery power when vehicle is off. This second type of connection will not be covered by the warranty.
Must the unit be installed in the window of the vehicle? What about orientation?
It is only given as the optimal position of installation, but the unit antenna is powerful enough to ensure linkage even inside the vehicle in different positions. Always ensure the blue satellite link light to be on when installed. The best orientation will be when the unit is installed horizontally or flat with the e-logger logo showing on top.
Why is there a difference between the odometer reading inside the vehicle and the unit data downloaded over time?
The satellite measurement will always be more accurate than the vehicle mechanical odometer measurement. This problem can be minimized by downloading the data to your PC more often, and starting the new period with a new odometer reading.
What causes the blue satellite link LED to delay more than 35 sec to come on?
If not screened by buildings, enclosed areas or other physical interference then the power source level may be too low. Make sure the unit is connected to the vehicle power source and the ignition is turned on.
How do we distinguish between data downloaded from man unit onto one PC?
Every file being downloaded will be given a file name that includes the vehicle registration numbers as well as the date of download.
What about specific user software applications and additional requirements?
Separate software requirements and requests will be quoted for when needed. Additional applied software solutions quoted for and accepted will then be delivered to the specific clients as agreed, at cost.
How often must I download data and erase the unit? Why?
The unit storage capability is more than one year at normal average usage. It is however recommended to download data regularly. Loss of the unit or vehicle through accident or crime will mean loss of data if not downloaded and saved regularly.
Can I use the same unit in more than one vehicle?
Yes it can be done when one person uses a vehicle, then downloads the data after use erasing the unit to zero and the next person then uses the unit.
Can you explain the Excel spreadsheet data that was stored on my PC?
Yes, downloaded data creates two files, one Excel format with three sheets and one Google Earth “kml” format.
Excel sheet 1 gives totals of all recorded data while sheet 2 and 3 provides the business travel data and private travel data separately. The Google file will show all exact address location points as recorded when accessed online.
Why do I need to wait until the download function completes and gives the “OK”?
This will ensure the successful download of data and online coding to finish providing the user with the full and complete set of data files to keep.
Can we download and store data if not online?
Yes, but the data will then be without the final address column which requires connection to the server to complete.
The unit works in one vehicle but not my second vehicle, why?
This indicates a fault on the second vehicle lighter connection, or vehicle wiring.
